This inverter drives a single fluorescent lamp (15, 18 or 20 Watts) from either 75V (TL20_75) or 110V (TL20_110). A high power version (TL40_110V) will drive a 40W lamp from 110 V. It is housed in an aluzinc enclosure with connector strips for cable terminations. The circuitry has been specifically designed for use in harsh environments such as railway train coaches which experience temperature extremes and supply voltage fluctuations, including supply transients which may rise above 200 Volts. Starting is guaranteed through resonant starting and arc conduction is maintained down to 60 Volts thereby precluding spurious lamp extinction during voltage fluctuations. Both lamp drive and starting are factory tested with lamps having depleted emitter material. The unit is optimized for the lamps indicated in order to provide a long service life and reliable starting under all conditions. Long lamp life is assured by low distortion discharge current.
